Kato Divris Monastery in Divri

On a green slope, just meters south of the last houses of Divris, stands the Metochi of the Monastery of Chrysopigi Ano Divris, the Lower Monastery of Divris which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The Lower Monastery celebrates the performance of the Dormition on August 23, while the Temple has a remarkable wood-carved iconostasis with an inscription dating back to the 18th century. The katholikon is full of frescoes of 1746. In particular, the decoration is arranged on the inner surfaces by zones: full-bodied saints and braces, the Akathistos Hymn, the Christological circle.

On the west wall the Second Coming is represented. Also, in the central part of the dome are prophets full-bodied and in braces, in the middle Pantocrator with John the Prodromos and angel battalions and the four evangelists. In the sanctuary, hierarchs and deacons are depicted. In the arch, Platytera, the Divine Liturgy and the Society of the Apostles. Kato Moni is located 60 km from the city of Pyrgos and the visitor will be rewarded by passing through Archaeological Olympia, the beautiful forest of Foloi and the picturesque Lambia.
