DESCRIPTION
The Archaeological Museum of Olympia shows the long history of the sanctuary of Olympia Zeus of the most celebrated of antiquity, birthplace of the Olympic Games. It includes the permanent exhibition of findings from excavations in the sacred area of the Altis, which date from prehistoric times to the early Christian times. Of the total, priceless exhibits significant is the exhibition of sculptures, for which the museum is primarily known, and the bronze collection, the richest in the world and consists of weapons, figurines and other objects, and in particular important are the findings of the great pottery.
