Australian Oleni Sports Center in Karatoula

The Australian Oleni Sports Center is one of the finest and most modern closed gyms in Ilia. Although its construction started in 2000, with the 2004 Greece program, work was stopped in the absence of funding. Following the fiery hustle of Ilia in 2007, which shocked the world, the Australian Government, the Greek Cabernet Club and the Australian Red Cross took over funding to relieve the region.
So the work started again and finally the Center was inaugurated by Australian Ambassador to Greece Jeremy R. Newman on October 16, 2010 and his inauguration was welcomed by Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd. The Australian Oleni Sports Center, located in Karatoula Municipal District of Pyrgos, has a total capacity of 400 seats. Also distinguished for its auxiliary spaces. Today it is used by the local basketball team “Panoleiniakos”, where it performs its fights there.
