DESCRIPTION
Papalexis mansion house is located on the eastern side of the town of Krestena. It was designed by the Architect Ernst Ziller, built in 1891 and it was Nikos Papalexis house, deputy of Olympia, (Moraigiannis Papalexis descendant) and Deputy Speaker of Parliament (Ch. Trikoupis party). Villa Papalexis, also called the “Kresta’s Bastille”, while its owner, in May 1896, hosted in his mansion the French philhellene and archpriest prime minister George Clemenceau, who traveled and visited the Temple of Epicurean Apollo in Figalleia Vasses. This particular mansion is still preserved, and if you are near Krestena area, a visit is worthable.
