Tsigarida Feast

It is a custom that has been observed for at least fifty years since the Ottoman domination. The Tsigaridas Festival, as it is called, takes place every year in the village of Makrisia in the municipality of Andritsena – Krestena, where residents of the region of all ages participate. The Feast begin severy year in February with the so-called piglet, where young and older people, fro mearly in the morning, slaughter pigs they have grown them selves during the year.
From there, the big feast begins, with the village being transfor med into a huge “barbecue”, since every one bakes and offers visitors the rich dishes. The Celebration of the Macaris Cigaris the most famous winter feast, as the pieces of pork immediately after the slaughter process are placed in ladies who will then be “cooked” in a natural way and end up in the gourmet dish.
