World Hellenes Abroad

For more than 20 years, the World Hellenes Abbey, organized in the local community of Makrisia in the municipality of Andritsena – Krestena, constitutes a distinct institution that has been loved by all. This great celebration, which every year honors great artists, began as an idea of the Ilion music producer and lyricist, Yiannis Tzanopoulos, who made his dream come true.

The feast is organised every summer in August, in the picturesque chapel of Agios Yannis Makrison, on a verdant hill that enchants the visitor. There, dozens of great artists of the Greek pentagram join their voices and present an extra ordinary spectacle full of music and favorite songs. At the Hellenic World Festival, the singers, Themis Adamantidis, Katie Gray, Notis Sfakianakis, Giannis Ploutarchos, Mikis Theodorakis, Dimitris Basis, Grigoris Bithikotsis, Polly Panou, Vicky Moscholiou, Mary Linda and many others have appeared at times.
